Trauma focused Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) & Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)

EMDR is a targeted and focused therapy that identifies the root cause of issues and dismantles the blocks that keep people stuck in pain. It is effective in the recovery of addictions, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD, a wide range of phobias (eg: flying, dental, public speaking), anxiety, depression, early attachment wounding and relationship trauma as we all as multiple other mental health concerns. EMDR is an evidence based therapy endorsed by the WHO, NHS and NICE.

DBR is a powerful neuroscience informed psychotherapy that effectively treats symptoms and distressing emotions stemming from trauma, unresolved shock and attachment wounding. DBR activates and processes the neurophysiological sequence that occurred in the deeper regions of the brain and physiology at the time of the traumatic event. DBR can work without having to remember the trauma (often stored pre-verbally) and is effective even when the origins of a presenting trigger are unknown. The treatment clears shock that has been stored in the brain and body making space for a deeper profound sense of healing. Clients report this treatment to feel very healing and soothing.

In addition to EMDR & DBR I utilise a number of other trauma informed approaches to optimise healing; Sensorimotor psychotherapy, Comprehensive Resource Model and Internal Family Systems. These treatments, often combined and tailored to your unique needs, support the healing from physical pain, addiction, phobias, as well as treating trauma from distressing events (road traffic accidents, domestic abuse, medical trauma) & historical traumas (infancy and childhood attachment trauma, neglect, abuse, bullying etc).

Trauma focused interventions will support you to;

  • Tap into your own innate healing ability, process past disturbances & experience optimal wellbeing

  • Recover from PTSD & bring resolution from past trauma

  • Regulate your emotions & move beyond anxiety to a state of calm

  • Change negative thinking patterns into positive, compassionate thinking

Intensive sessions can be booked in 2, 4 or 6 hour blocks and are available in person or online for Individuals, couples and families. I work with all ages across the life span.

Couple & Family Therapy

I offer Couple and Family Therapy grounded in systemic practice, attachment-focused EMDR, the Gottman Method, and trauma-informed approaches. My work is guided by cultural humility, anti-oppressive principles, and ongoing efforts to decolonise therapeutic practice. I actively reflect on my own positionality and aim to create a safe, inclusive and affirming space for all couples and families, including LGBTQ+ relationships and diverse cultural backgrounds.

I have completed training in sex therapy and incorporate a sex-positive, trauma-informed approach to working with individuals and couples around issues of intimacy, desire, sexual functioning, and relational dynamics. I endeavour to provide a safe and affirming space to explore connection, intimacy, communication, and relational challenges.

Couple Therapy

Whether you are healing your relationship, navigating change, or deepening connection, couple therapy offers space to explore what’s working and what needs support. Together we will:

  • Understand and change unhelpful relational patterns

  • Improve communication and express needs more clearly

  • Heal past hurts and strengthen emotional connection

  • Build skills for repair and reconnection

  • Explore intimacy, desire and sexuality through a sex-positive, trauma-informed lens

Family Therapy

Family therapy supports families through transitions, conflict or challenges such as loss, trauma, illness or separation. Our work will help you:

  • See each other’s perspectives and reduce blame,

  • Understand the issues affecting each family member

  • Strengthen communication, connection and resilience

  • Create supportive environments for children and deepen attachment bonds

  • Recognise and shift patterns that keep you stuck

My goal is to support couples and families to connect more deeply, communicate more effectively and move forward with greater understanding, compassion and clarity.

Working with your child

Therapy for CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

As an attachment, family and trauma specialist I use various therapies and interventions to support your child to overcome distressing events or traumas from their life (eg: abuse, neglect, phobias, hospitalisations, bullying, behavioural issues etc). I draw on EMDR story work, Sandtray and creative systemic narratives that represent your child’s experiences for processing traumatic events in their life. As a trained Dyadic Development Psychotherapy practitioner I value the importance of humour and playfulness to create safety and containment. My therapeutic style is collaborative, curious, playful and empathic.

Our work will support your child to recognise their resilience, strengths and tap in to their ability to flourish and heal.

My work with younger children always involves the parent and child in sessions together. This collaborative way of working deepens the bond of attachment and supports your child to move through trauma in a safe way. I see teenagers on a one to one basis with intermittent family sessions with either or both parents to ensure they lend their perspective on the work being done with their child.

I work within local schools as a family therapist and EMDR child and adolescent consultant. I am a CORAM approved Adoption Support Fund therapeutic provider.

I have an up to date enhanced DBS (ID:C7401885839) and I am fully insured to work with all ages.
